Life Of A Financial Planner

My Story : Wee Cheng

During my undergraduate years in NUS, I was a middleman introducing my NUS friend to my JC friend who has been in this career. I joined the training with my NUS friend on the same day, that particular lesson (SITC = M9) changed my perception on insurance at age 20. Since that day, I decided to join this career, way back in school in 1987.

My first clientele set were my natural market like my NUS campus mates and small referred cases. From there, I was able to reach out to more people from referrals of their families and friends. Over the years, I enjoy growing with my clients as their needs change with each life stage and changing economic cycles. Now, I had started to serve their grown-up children as well.

The flexibility of how I can build my own business and career path was what initially attracted me to join as an FP and once I decided on something, nothing could side-track me. I love the flexibility and freedom from this career to plan my work and time. I know that I am building up this business model of having a perpetual income which is valuable in today’s living and the future is unlimited.

Fast forward 33 years, I believe what I have gained today happened because I refused to settle. With each hurdle, I never thought of giving up as I believe in what I do and my desire to make a difference in people life. With the right mind set and a clear vision of what you want to achieve, we all recover and will come back stronger than before. It is amazing where perseverance can take us. We just have to trust our gut feelings, work hard and never settle for anything less than our goals.

What drives me every day

All of us only have one life and it is up to you how you want to live it. For me, I want to touch and make a difference in people’s lives, which will make my existence more worthwhile.

Age is just a number, knowing your purpose in life is very important. The will to focus and unwillingly to settle for 2nd best - will make you think what it takes to come back and create a meaningful purpose in life.

Life is short but full of miracles. Dare to dream the impossible dream. If you believe yourself enough and tell everyone what you want to accomplish, the universe will help you to accomplish it!

Why did I start Alliance?

To leave a legacy doing the right things.

Alliance Organisation was set up uniquely with extensive support teams to create the best experience for both the clients and our team of financial planners. With a total experience of more than 350 years, our team uphold truth, trust and transparency in our business and towards our clients.

Our clients know they don’t just have the support of one FP but there is a team behind supporting them as they work towards their financial goals and freedom. The client events are always well organised by the team and leave the clients who attended a very good impression of Alliance. There’s a whole gamut of things we do for our clients, on top of giving professional service, that’s fun and enrich their knowledge at the same time.

During this Covid 19 pandemic, Alliance FPs are truly blessed with team members who wholehearted guided and helped the team to move towards remote advisory and equipped us with tools that create a smoother and wow experience for the clients and ourselves.

It was done quickly with little notice but our team pulled it together. Their support gave me the confidence to continue servicing my clients and conduct my business even when we are not allowed to have face to face meetings.

During this digitalised era, we have to advance our skills and change the way we do things . I am proud and thankful to be part of this team who leave no man behind as we all learn to adapt to this new norm.
