I aspire to do things differently. I want to nurture and coach a high performing team that is capable of tactical problem solving as well as strategic thinking, so that they are successful in their own lives and careers.
My career journey has thrown me repeatedly out of my comfort zone, pushing me from challenges to challenges, fuelling my hunger for knowledge and personal growth.
At the very least, life does not get boring.
I started in in the accounting field but after a while, I wanted a change from working a 9 to 5 job. My work seemed infinitely boring, doing the same thing, day in, day out. I have seen colleagues in those corporate roles, doing the same job for 15, 20 years. I cannot imagine myself in their shoes until I retire. That’s not the way I want to live my life.
I got married and started a family. I decided this is it - I want to spend more time with my kids and not to worry about rushing from work to pick up my kids from childcare. When they fall sick, I worry about being away from work, in order to take care of the kids.
After a series of right and some wrong turns, I decided to get into financial management. It was a most rewarding and humbling experience to enter financial planning at an entry level professional. Subsequently, I took up a 4 year Chartered Financial Consultant course and I’m happy to receive my Chartered Financial Consultant certificate finally this year.
Having industry experience prior to financial planning advisory, I was able to apply real-world perspective of the businesses at large, enabling me to empathize with my clients’ financial needs.
I’m glad I did the switch. I have no regrets as this job allows me to plan my working schedule around my children, so I don’t miss out on their growing up years.
I do not have a specific target market; I just do my best in everything that come along

I like to watch drama. I used to watch them after my kids had gone to bed. Now that my two older kids have grown up and are able to understand the plot, the three of us end up watching together, discussing the story line and guessing what’s next or which character is the bad guy.
When I was a kid, I like the Care Bears. They are cute, colourful and they help another. Each Care Bear is of a different colour and has a special "belly badge" that represents its personality. These furry, friendly and adorable creatures whose mission is to guide small children and protect them from bogeymen, is the reason why I still keep them now.
I also like listening to Jackie Cheung and JJ Lim during my free time.
I enjoy being part of Alliance. My closest buddies are Hoon Lay and Kim. The three of us clicked; we share ideas, encourage and motivate one another. Sometimes at work, your buddies make all the difference. All in all, Alliance is like a big family to me where family members are more than willing to help one another, to share their own experience and knowledge, so we don’t make the same mistakes and help one another to grow.
I know I’m never lonely in Alliance.
