Families come in all forms—some warm and loving, others dysfunctional, and some indifferent. Each one leaves a mark on me as I strive to find the best solutions for them. My protective nature compels me to go beyond insurance products, collaborating with other professionals to support my clients, even outside my typical scope.
For 30 years, every consultation has enriched me emotionally and brought immense satisfaction. The journey of a financial planner is not always smooth; it has its ups and downs, triumphs, and disappointments. Yet, it continuously enriches me as a person, reinforcing why I chose this profession—to walk alongside those I serve, offering love and care to the best of my ability.
I became a full-time agent when my university friend, Lilian, said: "Just get certified first, and you’ll get to meet people. It’s fun!" Fast forward 30 years, and it was one of the best decisions I ever made.
When I understood what insurance is all about, I decided I wanted to be the kind of agent people look forward to meeting, not one they avoid. I aimed to change how people view insurance planning. Financial planning isn't just about numbers or strategies; it’s filled with emotions and responsibility.
I strongly believe in comprehensive estate planning. Many financial plans out there are scattered and lack a clear strategy. My mission to protect people is deep-rooted. I’m passionate about educating families so their plans can withstand any financial storms. This drive keeps me going.
A good financial plan starts at home. When a family plans well, it benefits everyone, even extended family members. Many people buy whatever their friends or banks recommend, ending up with mismatched, piecemeal solutions. Planning right from the beginning gives you peace of mind. Regularly reviewing your plan is crucial to keep it healthy.
I love helping clients holistically over the years, guiding them to financial freedom. At Alliance, I’m proud of our well-organized database that helps us run things smoothly. Some clients even rely on me to access their medical records!
Most of my clients are families and business owners. Many have been friends since school and knew me before I joined the business. Now, I mainly work with referrals because we share the same mission and they appreciate my approach. They know I’m not a fly-by-night or product-pushing advisor.
I love working with business owners and entrepreneurs because they think big. They are positive, resilient, and visionary. We often discuss growth and business potential. They come up with new ideas to face challenges and overcome difficulties. These experiences are unique to real businesses and can’t be learned from books or sales theories. This dynamic environment invigorates me.

It’s actually love that drives someone to action. The number of heart-warming stories over the years that continue to speak to my heart, I think I can easily write a book of it! There are families that are warm and loving, while some are dysfunctional, and others, indifferent. All of them touch me though, as I work out what is best for them. I have a protective nature. Not all problems can be solved with an insurance product, so I work with other professionals to help my clients, regardless if it’s within my scope.
For 30 years, I have walked away after every consult, feeling richer emotionally and satisfied. The journey of an FP is not a bed of roses, it has its ups and downs, victories and disappointments. However, it enriches me as a person and this is exactly why I chose to be an FP.
To continue to walk with each person I serve, to love and care for them to the best of my ability.
Life and the pursuit of knowledge are my passions. I believe in living life to the fullest because we only get one chance. I live intentionally, guided by the principles of YOYO (You Are On Your Own) and YOLO (You Only Live Once). I strive to love God, love people, and give my best in all I do.
Starting my insurance business in the late '80s was a transformative decision. It allowed me to quickly achieve my life dreams—paying off my PSC school loan, providing a regular allowance for my parents, buying and renovating my first house, enjoying a decent honeymoon, and purchasing my first car. Had I stayed in my brief admin job, my life might have been very different.
Reading and swimming are my greatest loves. Reading, my first love, inspires me daily with its powerful words. I pray for good eyesight to continue this passion. Swimming, my other love, is liberating and refreshing, washing away daily stresses and pressures.
Music and songs also hold a special place in my heart. If I had a good voice, I would have been a singer. I enjoy both English and Chinese songs, oldies, pop, country, love songs, and hymns. Anne Murray's "Nobody Loves Me Like You Do" and "Itsy Bitsy Teenie Weenie Yellow Polka Dot Bikini" are some of my favorites.
On a lighter note, I find immense satisfaction in popping the bubbles on protective plastic covers and playing Jewel Blitz on my phone. These simple joys help relieve stress and bring unexpected pleasure.
I love going to work and seeing my colleagues. Alliance, the ONLY inter-generational organization in AXA, is a source of pride and blessing for me. Our team ranges from young advisers in their 20s, 30s, and 40s to veterans in their 50s, with most of our financial planners staying with us for at least five years.
My workplace buddies include Lilian, my university mate, with whom I share adventures dating back to the '90s, often singing late into the night. Joyce, my forever lovely disciple, is enigmatic and full of surprises. Pling (short for Pei Ling), my sweetest, kindest, and most helpful evening office and convention companion, is another cherished friend.
Alison is a very upbeat and cheerful person. She’s cheerful, funny and patient. She is someone with a personality that you will enjoy talking to and hanging out with her if you have time after your insurance consult! She is well-networked – even if something’s not under her portfolio, she gets you someone you can trust, who does. Alison shows up, fully. She is one of the rare agents who did not dabble here and there but solely on insurance which I appreciate. It shows a genuine dedication to the craft. Being intelligent and focused, I would say she displays a lot of empathy and she has a kind heart. All the ingredients I would like, as my FP.

Once again Congratulations and you deserve a place in AXA Signature. I can recall vividly the first time I met you at my sister Jenny Pang’s home at Bukit Batok in the night. Jenny’s husband Chua had a massive stroke in July 2015 and is now in a nursing home, in a vegetative state with no hope of recovery. Chua had bought 3 AXA policies from another agent many years ago. You were sent to meet us to help sort out the 3 policies as we contacted AXA.
You were helpful, assuring and clear in your explanations and genuine in following up with our many questions. It was a very painful and distraught time for Jenny and our family. Thank you for the care and sincere help you have given to Jenny. Jenny Chua do not have any children. You have given so much of your precious time in the night which is meant for your own family. All 3 policies had been settled and already paid to CPF as Chua bought with CPF funds. It helped Jenny to pay his monthly nursing home full care around $5000.00!
